Experience with Dr. Michael Musgrove for ADHD? So I was recently referred to and sent to Dr. Michael Musgrove by my PCP because she said I'd need to see a Psychiatrist in order to continue getting prescribed the current dose of Clonazepam she's been giving me (1mg 2x daily as needed) I have also been seeking treatment for ADHD, as I was diagnosed years ago but never sought treatment by a doctor until now. Anyway I've had 2 appointments at his office but I've only been seen by his PA, a young woman named Megan Brady, and she tells me that despite my clear ADHD diagnosis that they cannot prescribe any stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin because I'm currently taking Clonazepam aka that because I'm taking one controlled substance that they're not allowed to prescribe a stimulant, even though I've tried every other ADHD medication that isn't a stimulant (Staterra, Intuniv, etc ..) Megan Brady is super nice and is clearly a very compassionate person, I do believe she cares a great deal about actually trying to help but I'm suspicious about her saying I can't be prescribed 2 different controlled substances at the same time, specifically because I've got a friend who is currently prescribed a much higher dose of both Clonazepam and Adderall and has been getting them both from a Psychiatrist here in Austin for several years. I only met Dr. Musgrove for 5 minutes during my first visit, so I haven't been able to ask him about this yet, and have only seen the PA Megan Brady both times so far, so I'm wondering if anybody knows if this is a new recent policy in Texas that if you're on Clonazepam or any other controlled substances of any kind, that they're not allowed to prescribe you another at the same time? BTW I'm also prescribed Lunesta, which is also a controlled substance, so I don't want to think she's deliberately lying to me but I can't help but be skeptical because, well, I've been straight up lied to by several different doctors over the years, especially by the doctors I had to see when I was in Pain Management. Thanks in advance. ✌️
